Paris in the summer of 1930 will be remembered as the greatest fancy dress ball season of them all. And continuing the  theme of spectacle, 80 years on we have just come to the end of London Burlesque week. What’s not to love about an entire week of unadulterated glitz, glamour, Vaudeville and striptease?  Exactly.

So there I was drooling over the costumes and tassels, and couldn’t help but get a little bit carried away with the thought this could be my new vocation! Strictly to keep you, my devoted readers, entertained of course. And I’d save a fortune on the gym, and I bet it would tone bits I didn’t even knew existed…ahem… Anyway, so then I got to thinking that to be a serious performer, I really need a stage name.  With monikers like Coco Framboise, Vagina Jenkins, Beeby Rose and Pepper Sparkles gracing cabarets all over the capital, I need something that will stand out.  How about ‘Miss Amandine Spanx’ (making body shaping knickers sexy). Or ‘Queen Amandine’ (my male alter ego perhaps?) or ‘Miss Amandine Obscene’ (uh,let’s not go there). In all seriousness though, I think I might give it a go, you never know I might discover a talent I never knew I had.
